Orthopedic Surgery

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery deals with problems that develop in the musculoskeletal system.

Medical services

The Department provides expert treatments for individuals with musculoskeletal injuries and diseases, including degenerative joint disease, osteoporosis, congenital disease, sports injury, and trauma.

Diagnosis and treatment policy

The accurate diagnosis of pain and dysfunction is essential for ensuring the most effective treatment. A conservative treatment is the first option of choice for most musculoskeletal problems. Surgical treatments are selected when conservative therapy no longer appears to be successful.

Target diseases

The physicians have experience in various orthopedic specialties, such as those in the hip, knee, shoulder, sports medicine, spine, pediatrics, and trauma.

Clinical experiences

The Department currently performs approximately 800 surgeries per year and has approximately 35000 patient clinic visits per year. In 2012, we performed 136 total hip arthroplasties, 39 total knee arthroplasties, 23 rotational acetabular osteotomies, 74 anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions, 61 shoulder surgeries, and 59 spinal surgeries.

Advanced information

We use preoperative autologous donations to evade allogenic blood transfusion in joint arthroplasty and introduced a computer-assisted navigation system for accurate surgery.
