Pediatric Surgery

The Section of Pediatric Surgery takes responsibility for the general surgical treatment of babies and children.

Medical services

The Section of Pediatric Surgery provides surgical treatments for babies, infants, and children less than 15 years old. We treat all surgical diseases in children, except for those related to neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, and orthopedics. We perform laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgeries, providing safe and minimally invasive conditions for delicate children.

Diagnosis and treatment policy

We place precedence in patient safety and minimally invasive procedures as well as recovery from illnesses. We initially diagnose a disease by using a minimally invasive examination. A surgical procedure for the disease is discreetly decided depending on the patient’s condition with mutual consent from patients and their families.

Target diseases

We mostly treat abdominal, urological and respiratory diseases. Inguinal hernias, undescended testes, and vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) are the main diseases treated. Hepatobiliary diseases in children such as biliary atresia, choledochal cysts, and gallbladder stones are also our specialty.

Clinical experiences

We perform more than three hundred and fifty pediatric surgeries per year. Surgeries are performed almost every day and immediately depending on the patient’s condition.
One hundred inguinal hernias were treated laparoscopically. Thirty cases of VUR were treated using a cystoscopic injection of Deflux. Most intestinal diseases, including choledochal cysts and GB stones, were treated laparoscopically.
